Just a quick announcement… Thanks to Olaf, I decided to revive my Web Directory Lens. This Web Directory Lens is aimed at finding the best places to obtain quality lists of search engine friendly directories (mainly) and high traffic ones too.

I think that it is a great way to share a topic that you may be passionate about; it could very well become popular and earn you some traffic and income. The income bit I am not too sure about, but I am sure that it won’t a great amount; though you can donate any revenue to a charity if you wish!

After having a look at some of the new features added to Google’s webmaster tools, I would recommend having a look (if you haven’t already)! There are some useful features and interesting stats for your site. One of my favourite was the info on the page with the highest PageRank (it wasn’t what I thought it would be).

You have to obviously varify that the site you want to check is in fact yours, but once you have completed varification you can view reports on web crawl errors, analyse your robots.txt file, view statistics on queries and crawls, and more. Don’t forget that this is also the area where you can submit your sitemap file too.

There is another feature that I thought was rather nice. This was the one that allowed one to decide how to index their domain - with or without the www. I wonder if this will affect the PageRank by forcing all traffic to go to your preferred URL format? I guess someone will have to test it and let us know.

Congratulations to June’s winner Finalwebsites.com! This is a great resource for “Some useful PHP classes and snippets”.

I always look out for CSS and XHTML validation, and this site passes on both accounts. They have a PR5 and have a nice ranking in traffic according to Alexa. I love a clean and clear navigation, and their Web2.0 style and menu do just that.
